Three Michigan entrants – Detroit Athletic Club (DAC), Diva Tech Talk and Michigan Radio — made repeat appearances on the annual roster of national AWC Clarion winners. This year they took top honors in marketing communications campaigns, logo design, sports photography and various radio categories.
The DAC Communications Department, headed by Ken Voyles, received Clarions in three different categories. The best marketing communications campaign (budget under $100,000) went to the entire Communications team for the design and messaging of the Edge Challenge program. The Club’s Detroit Cycling Championship received the top award in Sports Photography for a shot by Cybelle Codish and in logo design for the work of Amanda Fairchild.
Our members Nicole Scheffler and Kathleen Norton-Schock, co-founders of Diva Tech Talk, dominated the Radio category for the third year in a row with wins for a documentary series and women’s issues programming.
Also in the Radio category, April Van Buren, reporter/producer for State of Opportunity on Michigan Radio, won for a feature story about the 4th Wall Theatre Company, which gives kids with disabilities a chance to shine on stage. Michigan Radio has been a frequent Clarion winner. (See list below.)
