AWC Detroit Member Sue Voyles is the AWC National Headliner 2021

Susan Voyles, founder and president of Logos Communications in Canton, Michigan, has been named the national 2021 Headliner of the Year by the Association for Women in Communications (AWC). The Headliner is the top award for an AWC member; recipients deliver the keynote speech at the biennial conference, which will be held in 2022.

Sue and the multi-generational team at Logos Communications have provided a wide variety of marketing and public relations services for small- to medium-sized businesses since 1999, when she started the company “with $500 and a strong network.” Logos’ clients have been covered in national, regional, trade and local media, including print, broadcast and online. In the award nomination, the Logos team was described as “precision communications surgeons who cut through the noise to achieve clarity on behalf of their clients.”

“The national AWC Headliner award goes back to 1939, so I am very honored to be joining the ranks of outstanding communicators who undoubtedly blazed trails for women like me to excel in my chosen field,” said Voyles. “I am also grateful to the Logos team members who bring a vast level of experience to our clients.”

As a woman business owner, Sue has mentored female communicators through internships at her firm, as well as participating in informal mentoring. Her passion for knowledge has been shared through training on communications and leadership for executive teams, as well as several years’ experience teaching English and journalism at the college level. She also served for many years in an editorial role at Corp! Magazine, a long-standing and well-respected Michigan business publication.

Since joining AWC in 1990, Sue has been active in AWC Detroit, serving in many roles, including president, and was honored with its Chapter Headliner Award. She also served on the national AWC Board of Directors.

Sue has a master’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University in East Lansing, and a bachelor’s degree in English/Journalism from Madonna University in Livonia. She also has earned a Certificate of Entrepreneurship from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program and a Certificate in Communication and Leadership from The Global Leadership Summit (endorsed by Wheaton College). She currently sits on the board of directors for Incentive Federation, Inc.

Congratulations, Sue!  We look forward to seeing you honored in person at the AWC National Conference in 2022.
