AWC Detroit Members Plan for the Future

AWC Detroit held a strategic retreat to identify initiatives that will help the newly independent organization grow and thrive. Members brainstormed next steps and goals and discussed what they would like AWC Detroit to look like five years from now. Participation included a cross-section of our membership with new board members, outgoing board members, past presidents, new members, and long-time members.

The following ideas were identified as those that will most benefit our members.

• Value proposition
• Workplace support
• Rebrand
• Mentoring grant
• Mentorship and young professional initiatives
• Member growth, retention, and reclamation

The next step is to prioritize the ideas and identify the tactical methods to achieve these benefits with input from our members; this may include creating short-term mini-committees that will focus on one benefit at a time.

Enthusiasm is running high as we now can realize the independent status that many of our members have desired for a long time. Let’s take that enthusiasm and run with it!
